Celebrating Polish Culture in the Nation’s Capital
The Polish American Arts Association is dedicated to creating public awareness of the richness of Polish culture and to supporting greater cooperation and understanding between the United States and Poland in the fields of art, culture and education.
In celebration of Polish American Heritage Month, we warmly invite you to a Polish American Heritage Mass on Saturday, October 4, at 10:30 AM in the Our Lady of Czestochowa Chapel at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, DC.
This special liturgy will be offered for the intentions of Polonia and in memory of our departed members, as we prepare to mark our organization’s 60th anniversary in 2026. The Mass will be celebrated primarily in English, enriched with Polish prayers and hymns.
Following the Mass, guests are invited to join a guided tour highlighting the Basilica’s rich history, architecture, and artwork, including the renowned Christ in Majesty mosaic by Jan Henryk de Rosen.
The Our Lady of Czestochowa Chapel, visited twice by Pope John Paul II, beautifully honors Poland’s spiritual heritage through mosaics, depictions of Polish saints, and the beloved image of the Black Madonna. Learn more about the chapel here.
We hope you will join us for this meaningful occasion. All are welcome, and following the mass there will be an opportunity to socialize in the Basilica’s café.
